Photo of water and ripples

Springs and Wells: The Tomb is a Womb

Wells: A pebble drops, way below

Deep inside the city

Brick by brick

stone by stone

Cracks start to form

A single drop of water

Once overflowing

Now floating

Enough to let the plants grow

Through the cracks

Echoes

Rain seeps through to say hello

Awaken the water below

As above so below

As above so below

As above so below

Springs: I once flowed free, exposed to the sky

The sun’s flames reflected in me

So great, they’d sting the eye.

I once breathed

Full

And humble.

I once flowed

Long and dear.

Children would dip into me,

mothers and fathers would scoop me up and take me home with them.

I’d nourish natural life.

The dogs,

The birds.

I’d be the foundation upon which great-great-grandmother’s most renowned dish stood.

I held within me an essence which infused the spirit.

I hold within me the essence which heals the day.

Unpredictable naturality,

Perpetually predictable inevitable change.
