Four people in a boat on the water

Mylene A. Cahambing

mom & dad sings ‘si pilemon’

Song Context: The song is all about a fisherman named Pilemon who caught a tambasakan (mudskipper), sold it in a small market and used the money to buy tuba (coconut wine); time context: during Japanese occupation of the islands in the Philippines during WW2.

Mom and Dad sings Si Pilemon (Cebuano) 2018

Mom and Dad chats: Ang ibig sabihin: kura is Japanese money – sell the fish just enough to buy tuba.

Mom (refers to story sharing after singing ends): “That was cute.”
